Missing Rock And Roll (or too much strain on the voice ?), this is a very good soundboard tape. A bit hissy in places, but very nice to listen to. Bonham is entertaining himself with excellent fills during 'Black Dog'. Plant' voice is not that bad.

Very good sounding show, a bit distant, the sound travels a bit during 'Rock And Roll'. Every instrument and Plant's voice come through clearly. Bonzo is very much awake already and is providing a steady beat. During the solo in 'Over The Hills And Far Away' the volume improves. Page extends the solo with a few unusual riffs. The audience is extremely polite and quiet, only when the song really ends there is some noise coming from them.

'Black Dog' sounds fine, nothing special. Plant's voice, the usual letdown in versions from this year on, holds fine. He don't really push it, though. Bonzo takes the lead on the end. I think some new drumheads were in order. Jonesy switches to the keyboards for 'Misty Mountain Hop', but is totally pushed away when Page and Bonham enter. Halfway the sound clears up even more. We're suddenly close to the stage. Even Jones is audible now.

There's that magical stop again and they flow without hesitation into 'Since I've Been Loving You'. A very delicate and light version for this period. Wonderful !Atlantic gets hammered by Robert. 'Dancing Days' continues this very fine concert so far. You can almost sense something of the power they gained on the mainland a few weeks later.

Tape switch and right into one of my favourites. Bonzo delivers a fine backing vocal. Robert's voice is very good now, reaching almost all of the difficult passages in 'Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp'. 'That's The Way' nod included we head for the end of again a very inspired performance. Bonzo is again very impressive in 'The Song Remains The Same'. I think the best versions of the song were played around this period and this is one of them. 'The Rain Song' is also sounding good, only Jonesy's mellotron is a bit too loud.

'Dazed & Confused' starts totally Bonzo controlled. Hear his fills ! There's an unusual passage just after the fast instrumental and Oriental riffs part, just before 'San Francisco'. Somebody shouts 'boring !' when the bow solo starts. When the rhythm section returns all hell breaks loose with the fast parts. The sound is a tad lesser in quality now, but maybe this is because there's a lot of music 'happening'. The machine keeps on going with endless improvisations. After the return to the main theme Bonham keeps the train going with his incredible drumming.

There's a cut just before the beginning of 'Stairway To Heaven'. Good version with Page giving a very fine compact solo. Robert sounds again more than average on the last part. 'Whole Lotta Love' is sadly the last song on the tape, however 'Heartbreaker' was played as an encore, but didn't make it on this version. Just before the Theramin part they play some kind of 'The Hunter' riff.

The medley has no big surprises, but is so well played. Just listen to Bonzo at the end of 'Everybody Needs Somebody To Love'. There's a reference to a song i don't know just before 'Boogie Chillun'.

Around the time of the 1973 tour of Europe they started to play the definite versions of 'Dazed & Confused'. The writer of these 3 books has made a very interesting structure of these versions. Stretched out to almost 30 minutes, especially the teamwork between Page and Bonzo really shines here.

We start for a few seconds very distant and with very low frequenties. When it clears up we hear the guitar upfront with the drums in the back and the bass rumbling beneath. Plant comes through fine and is in good voice. It's still sounds a bit distant.

This is the most famous concert of the European tour (like the 24/05/1975 Earl's Court show compared with other concerts from that 'tour'). No pause and straight away with 'Over The Hills And Far Away'. There's a tape change (worse quality, same source that is used for the beginning ?) for a few seconds.

The title for this bootleg comes from a quote from Luis Rey in his book 'Led Zeppelin Live' to something Robert says after a crushing version of 'Black Dog'. 'Misty Mountain Hop' gets an audience reaction (clapping along as usual in these parts, Holland included !!). The keyboard gets a bit lost during this song. Jimmy stutters great into fine solo.

How do Jones and Bonham know to stop so Jimmy can play the introduction to 'Since I've Been Loving You'? Telepathy, counting in/off or just signalling ? Jimmy is imitating Robert during some unfortunate notes. During the great guitar solo Bonham fills every spot with excellent drumming. This is one of the best versions ever.

No 'Dancing Days' at this concert. As usual a tiny bit of 'That's The Way' is performed during the 'Stomp'. When 'The Song Remains The Same' start the tape sounds great, with only the bass losing a bit power. Page is playing unbelievably good during this piece. Jones is having Mellotron troubles in 'The Rain Song'.

'Dazed & Confused' follows the onslaught. As with most versions from this tour the playing is too much. Page is going everywhere he likes with Jones And Bonham following like they rehearsed versions like this. The intro to the 'San Francisco' interlude send shivers down my spine. The instrumental part of the band cuts of 'San Francisco' pretty quick with some blasts that lead into the bow solo. When the fast part after the bow solo starts Page takes the lead (again) and never loses it, fluency is priority here.

There's a little funky interlude before the call and response game by Page/Plant. In the wings there was a wah-wah pedal dealer waiting so Page decides to get rid of this one !

Next is 'Stairway To Heaven'. Nice version with a great solo, but 'Dazed' is still ringing in my ears. Plant sings the last part very well (for this period). And then 'Whole Lotta Love'. A little bit of 'Cold Sweat' is performed before the Theremin spot. Bonham blasts the intro for 'Everybody Needs...' and destroys his drumheads before the returning of the main theme.

The medley is performed at high speed, with no suprise songs. Why did they drop this for the next tour ? The blues part has a very extended guitar solo which (it's getting a bit boring) is one of the best ever. The echo unit on Plant' voice during the return to the main theme works fine.

Jimmy is the star in 'Heartbreaker', especially during his solo concerto, which rounds off one of the best concerts ever.

When i got this in a trade and heard the first song i thought that it was burned at 24x speed. After a little investigation i learned that the people who recorded this had the recording levels not set properly. Worthy ender to the fabulous European tour.

This source misses the half of 'Whole Lotta Love' and a complete 'Heartbreaker' which are available on a supposed terrible source (haven't heard it).
