The select members of the audience around the taper are in a state of 'i can't believe we're here', in a positive sense ! After the crashing 'Immigrant Song' comes the classic 'ooh,my ears man'. This is a very good audience tape with good bottom end.

The film footage is my all time favourite in Zeppelin' filmed history.

Robert has instantly the laughs on his hand with lots of 'shit' talk. Very good audience recording, a bit distant and tiny sounding with some mild distortion in louder parts. For most of the time there are little cuts between songs. Voice and guitar upfront, then the drums and sadly the bass even further in the mix.

A famous event that drew 26.000 people. Look at the amazing clip at the start of the second disc of the official DVD and you can almost guess this is an extraordinary show. Plant has cured from his shivers and shakes and the rest of the band is in equally good mood.

The first 2 songs were not recorded by the taper who claims that he got 240 minutes of tape after 'Black Dog'. He should have come a bit earlier...

'Since I've Been Loving You' and 'Celebration Day' were dubbed over during the years as the intro to 'Stairway To Heaven'. The first two songs are a fine start to an amazing show. 'Black Dog' is performed in 'Hammer Of The Gods' style and the solo in 'Stairway To Heaven' has very much grown (in a positive sense) compared to the early 1971 versions.

Then it's time to sit down for the acoustic set. Imagine four man sitting in broad daylight in a stadium with 26.000 man and playing an acoustic set and everybody is quiet and listens (we here no complaints from Robert about noisy people). 'Going To California' starts with strange sounding vocals (i first thought it was the taper singing) but clears up pretty quick. 'That's The Way' follows with beautiful close harmony at the end.

Robert continues his pleasant jokes and utters a very light reprimande to some noisy people. 'Tangerine' is beautiful, i like this version much more than the electric Earl's Court one. 'The Stomp' is getting a few hands together (52.000 ?). The end is cut and changes very quick into 'Dazed & Confused'.

The bass recovers a bit in this part of the tape. Plant' singing is outstanding here. After Robert' 'do what you want' phrases the first fast instrumental starts leading into the bow solo. A woman is the background gets very excited by this. The taper and people around him discuss the spectacle that's unfolding in front of them. Then Jimmy and Robert start their little game together to some amusement from the crowd.

Page really gives everything in the solo ending with the horror of 'Mars, The Bringer of War'. The audience tries to clap along during the first fast part but surrenders quick. When the tempo slows down, Page just riffs away before starting the usual call/response game which is abandoned instantly. Jimmy is really going crazy after this, was Miss Australia waiting in the wings ?
The coda after the return to the main theme is excellent.

The show continues with an excellent version of 'What Is And What Should Never Be'. Bonzo is introduced with a little fanfare and starts his drum solo. He really goes for it and is wildy cheered at during the end part.

'Rock And Roll' is played at light speed, incredible ! Plant hits all the right notes and Bonham destroys his drumkit during the end. Next is 'Whole Lotta Love' and again no complaints here. The sound during these last two numbers is bit muddier than before. Total mayhem during the Theremin part where Bonzo is filling every hole with crazy drumming and Plant screams ahead. This goes on for quite some time with 'Communication Breakdowm' like riffs.

The medley starts with Robert' advice how to boogie. The usual songs for this era are performed with one big surprise, a quite long part from 'The Rover'. The blues part of the medley is the high point. Page really destroys his strings when he solos. Page instructs Plant to hurry up with the 'Woman' part (this is incredible to watch in the clip).

'Communication Breakdown' departs at neckbreak speed. The last song is 'Thank You' with the usual 'Organ Solo' as introduction which ends if there's a plane coming down.

This is not a classic Led Zeppelin concert of course, but it's performed in the town i live, so it's a bit special to me. I've attended a few concerts in this hall (not Led Zeppelin) and the sound was, to put it mildly, not that good. I wonder how Zeppelin sounded on earthquake volume.

The announcer gives some explanation about starting late because there are still people coming in all the way from Vancouver.

The drone sounds very strange with Bonzo doing a little soundcheck in between.Percy screws up the 'Immigrant Song' screams rather bad. His voice is dominant in this recording, with the guitar and drums battling for the second place. Bonzo wins for sure when Jimmy solos.

Great audience recording, shame the taper had a malfunctioning reel to reel machine. The whole show in this quality would have been a blast. You can actually hear the machine, if i'm right.

James is great on the 'Heartbreaker' unacompanied solo. And not so bad on the acompanied also ! The crowd is already very loose. Plant explains the troubles in Vancouver the year before. And there are a lot of people from Vancouver in Seattle for this show.

Percy avoids the higher notes in 'Black Dog' but it's a great version anyway, Jelly Roll lyrics included. Jonesy needs to tune up the organ for the next piece, but manages rather quickly. I really love the 1972 versions of 'Since I've Been Loving You'.So much interaction between Percy and Jimmy, really great.And what a solo !!

'Stairway To Heaven' next, with a reference to fishing ! Another great version of a relative new song for the audience. The tape is sounding wonderful right now, Jimmy really on the foreground.And he nails another great solo.The recording ends with the beginning of the acoustic set.

Finally, thanks to one of the great people on STG, i'm able to listen in wonderful quality to this classic must have performance. Had the 'The Evergreen' version from TDOLZ but this beats that on all fronts. Premiere evening with lots of previews from 'Houses Of The Holy' and even 'Physical Graffiti'. The recording starts a bit bassy but recovers very quickly. The taper(s) are very talkative but nothing serious, it just adds to the incredible atmosphere.

'Since I've Been Loving You' must be the best ever, the final part is so incredebly intense and forceful. 'Stairway To Heaven' and especially the hardrocking finale together with the audience reaction sends shivers down my spine.

The acoustic set is extended with 'Black Country Woman' with Jonesy on piano, if i hear correctly. 'Dazed & Confused' is recieved with a deafening cheer, however the 'The Crunge' is not liked by the taper. The rest is (as always in 1972) an incredible improvisation. Even 'Moby Dick' is above par this evening, Bonham is really into it.

The whole place seems to explode when 'Whole Lotta Love' starts. Hear Bonzo hammer away on the Theramin part ! The medley starts with Page and Plant exchanging 'baby, baby'. Then the fun starts with 'Boogie Chillun' and 'Let's Have A Party' with a little jam linking them. For these medleys you can wake me up any time. Played almost in the original arrangements they really do these songs justice. Especially Jimmy is the perfect Scotty Moore clone.

I always wonder if they rehearsed songs like 'Only The Lonely' or is it just a case of a living juke box syndrome ? 'Heartbreak Hotel' continues the music lesson. The bluesy ending is relaxed and a perfect way for Page to indulge in a very long solo. They don't return into 'Whole Lotta Love' ?? Or is the tape cut ?? If they were planning to sneak out of the backdoor the incredible audience roar brought them surely to other plans. Six encores ?? No problem.

'Rock And Roll' is the first with Plant in all the high pitched glory of 1972. Jonesy's mini concerto including many more classics continues the party. Wonderful, and even the rest of the band joines in. 'Louie Louie' from Seattle band 'The Kingsmen' is spot on. 'Let's Dance' flows directly into 'Thank You'. Jimmy's solo is again incredible.

The last cover of this evening is 'Money' with Jimmy on backing vocals. 'Over The Hills And Far Away' starts in the middle of the guitar solo and when Robert starts the last verse he's still in the high pitch. 'Dancing Days' is repeated, again a first in Zeppelin's recorded history.

After the air raid siren the bombers drop of the first bomb and never stop bombing us actually. About 180 minutes of sonic perfection, as long as 1975 and 1977 shows, but with much more dynamics and contrasts. Jimmy performs a very extended solospot in 'Heartbreaker' which the taper calls 'unreal'.

Robert' vocals in 'Over The Hills...' are truly outstanding, how can you sing so high above that wall of sound. Interesting that somebody calls out for 'When The Levee Breaks', i always wonder why it took till 1975 to perform this piece.

This show (and Long Beach) can happily exist next to HTWWW, i think. These have that special audience recording ambience always missing on soundboards and official live albums.

This is the complete show as it seems. According to a reliable source they didn't play the first three usual songs of the acoustic set. Albion was calling !

Well, what can i say. This is great, wonderful, too much etc. etc. Taped near the stage, you can hear Bonzo talk between songs. Sound can become a bit messy in 'busy' passages, but it's much better and closer than Los Angeles. In more quite parts some hiss is evident, but not too serious to distract you from this wonderful concert.

Robert remembers the 'Desert Storm' gig in 1970 and complains that everybody left him alone in Phoenix. He's a bit careful with his voice ('Black Dog') but lets it loose again in 'Over The Hills And Far Away'. He sometimes looses control, especially in the former and 'Whole Lotta Love'.

Jimmy really burns in 'Since I've Been Loving You' and 'Dazed & Confused'.
